The Fine Arts Club under the College Cultural Council conducted a Creativity Workshop for students themed ‘A Creative Spark’. The resource person for the session was Ms. Tanisi Sinai Kakodkar, Partner, PaperMint, Margao, Goa, a Fine Arts degree holder and dedicated enthusiast. The objective of the workshop was to provide a platform for enhancing creative thinking and nourishing creativity skills in students. The workshop was conducted on Friday, August 16, 2019 from 02:00 to 05:00 p.m. for students of all programmes.
The workshop began with a short inaugural session with brief motivating words by
Dr. Rodney D’Silva, Vice Principal of the College. Ms. Tanisi initiated the session with the concept of creativity, highlighting the relationship between creativity and capacity building. She divided the workshop into two sessions. During the first session she focused on showing students how to make paper flowers in a simpler and quicker manner than usual, while the second session focused on an innovative and creative painting technique, widely popular among art enthusiasts, called mandala painting – making wonderful patterned designs on canvas boards.
48 students from the B.Com, BCA and BBA(FS) programmes actively participated in the workshop. All the participants opined that both the sessions were highly interesting and rewarding for them. They appreciated the activity and requested the teachers to conduct a similar workshop on calligraphy in the upcoming semester.
The workshop was organized by Mr. Sandesh Gaonkar and Mr. Mayuresh Adsul, Assistant Professors in Commerce. Mr. Ankur Bhat, General Secretary along with five student members of the Cultural Council assisted in conducting the workshop. Ms. Trupti Naik [SYBBA(FS)-B] compered the inaugural session and expressed the vote of thanks.
