Visit to Seva Sankalp Kanya Ashram

On August 5th, the NSS Unit of the College in association with Inner Wheel Club, Ponda organized a visit to Seva Sankalp Kanya Ashram, a Sociocultural and Educational Organization for underprivileged girls, based at Loliem, Canacona. It is a not-for-profit NGO working with a vision to make a difference in society. The organization works for improvement in the lives of underprivileged girls. 16 NSS girl volunteers and 2 teachers got an opportunity to spend time with the 57 girl inmates of different age groups. The NSS volunteers conducted a crafts workshop for the inmates in which they taught them to make bookmarks out of waste card paper and decorative paper bags from newspapers. The children participated in the workshop with great enthusiasm and enjoyed their day.

Our student volunteers had an opportunity to get a peep into the lives of underprivileged. They appreciated the way the girls are looked after and the discipline and values instilled in them by the Ashram authorities. We are grateful to the Inner wheel Club of Ponda for associating with our NSS Unit for this noble cause and conducting the outreach activity.
