TechTrendz Activity – Key-Breakers

The Future Skills Group of TechTrendz Club of the Department of Computer Science organized Key-Breakers – a speed typing competition for its BCA and B.Voc.(ST) students on Saturday, 22nd October 2022 from 12.00 pm to 2.00 pm in Lab1 and Lab3. The members of the organizing team were Mr. Malik Rehan and Mr. Muheet Bhat from SY B.Voc(ST) and Mr. Dylan Jonathan Frias and Mr. Delroy Pires from FY BCA-A. A total of 40 students participated in the event.

This competition was held to showcase the fast-typing skills and competitiveness against other participants. There were four rounds in this competition, and the qualifiers were evaluated based on their typing accuracy and maximum Words Per Minute (WPC) typing speed.  In Round 1, the capacity was set to 100 words with a cutoff of a minimum of 30 WPM to be qualified for the next round. After Round 1, 23 students qualified for Round 2. In Round 2, capacity was set to 140 words with a cut off of a minimum 35 WPM as the selection criteria for round 3.  After Round 2, 9 students qualified for Round 3. The capacity was updated to 180 words in Round 3. The selection criteria to be eligible for Round 4 was a minimum of 45 WPM. From Round 3, 6 students qualified for Round 4. The capacity was set to 150 words in Round 4. The first three participants to complete the task were announced as the winners. A total of 40 students participated and enjoyed the competition. The winners of Key-Breakers were Mr. Kris Rego from TY B.Voc(ST) who bagged the 1st place. The Second place was bagged by Ms. Lovely Ramchandani from TY BCA-B and the Third place was bagged by Mr. Darren Dias from TY BCA-A.

The brochure for this event was designed by Mr. Muheet Bhat from SY B.Voc(ST). The photography was done by Mr. Dylan Jonathan Frias from FY BCA-A, the Google form was made by Mr. Malik Rehan from SY B.Voc(ST), the collage was made by Mr. Delroy Pires from FY BCA-A and the video after the event was made by Mr. Malik Rehan, SY B.Voc(ST) and Mr. Dylan Jonathan Frias, FY BCA-A.The students of the organising team were guided by Ms. Ankita Naik, Ms. Dixita Gauns Dessai and Ms. Rajlaxmi S. Nair. Mr. Allan Braganca and Ms. Preeti Dhoble, lab instructors, provided the required help for the event.Head of the Computer Science Department Mr. Sumit Kumar provided the necessary guidance for the event.
