State-Level Student Seminar Organised by the Post Graduate Department of Commerce

DSC_0765The Post Graduate Department of Commerce of V.V.M.’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, organised a State–Level Student Seminar on ‘Contemporary Developments in Industry, Commerce and Management’ on 4th March 2017.

The aim of this seminar was to provide Post Graduate students of Commerce in Goa with a platform to exchange their views and ideas in the form of research paper presentations. 05 colleges registered for the seminar with 28 participants and 19 paper presentations.

DSC_0629The Inaugural Function began with the welcome address by Principal Dr. Prita D. Mallya. The Vice-Principal and Programme Coordinator Dr. Sanjay Sawant Dessai congratulated the delegates for their efforts in writing research papers. He also guided the students on the techniques of research methodology. The seminar coordinator Mrs. Sheryl da Silva introduced the theme of the seminar. Dr. Purva Hegde Dessai, Associate Professor and Head of Department of Management Studies, Goa University was the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker for the Inaugural Function. She touched upon recent trends in trade, commerce and industry and highlighted various potential areas for research. The Inaugural Function concluded with the vote of thanks by student coordinator Ms. Anika Fernandes.

The seminar consisted of two technical sessions. The first technical session was in the area of management, wherein 11 research papers were presented. The session was chaired by Mrs. Smita Sanzgiri, Associate Professor, GVM’s College of Commerce & Economics, Farmagudi. The second technical session was in the area of Accounting, Finance and Management, wherein 08 research papers were presented. The technical session was chaired by Mr. Audhoot Satardekar, Associate Professor, Carmel College for Women, Nuvem.

The Chief Guest for the Valedictory Function was Mr. P. J. Joseph, Regional Manager, Muthoot Finance Ltd, Goa. He emphasized the recent developments in the finance sector, the Indian economy and the global economy. The Valedictory Function concluded with the vote of thanks by Student Coordinator Mr. Arun Mohite.
