SPECTRA 2024-25

Spectra 2024-25, a two-day inter-collegiate technical extravaganza, was successfully held by the Department of Computer Science, on 10th and 11th January 2025 at the college campus. This vibrant event was a celebration of innovation, creativity, and technical excellence, that brought together some of the brightest minds from across the state. It showcased a total of 17 diverse competitions, including 5 on-stage events, 10 off-stage events and 2 sports events, designed to test and showcase the creativity, perseverance, and technical prowess of all participants in the field of Information Technology.

The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony, which included a floral welcome and the garlanding of Lord Damodar’s photo, followed by the lighting of the traditional lamp symbolizing the illumination of wisdom and knowledge. Officiating Principal Prof. Sanjay P. Sawant Dessai delivered an inspiring welcome address, emphasizing the significance of Spectra in fostering innovation and technical excellence. Following this, Asst. Prof. Annette Santimano, the Co-ordinator of the event gave an overview of Spectra to the gathering. Asst. Prof. Rama Borkar, the Co-coordinator of Spectra 2024-25, introduced the chief guest to the audience.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Tanmay Modi, Chief Executive of Prototyze, delivered a thought-provoking keynote address, where he highlighted the pivotal role of innovation and technology in shaping the future and stressed the importance of learning, unlearning, and relearning in today’s dynamic world. The Student Coordinator of Spectra 2024-25, Miss Bhakti Mirashi from TY B.Voc.(ST), then proposed the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty, and participants. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, marking the official start of the event. Over the course of these two days, participants engaged in a variety of technical, creative, and sporting challenges, demonstrating their skills, knowledge, and innovative ideas.

A total of 8 Colleges participated in the events with a total of 133 students (95 Males, 38 Female):

Day 1 of Spectra saw the successful execution of 12 events, conducted from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM, including: Tech Magnus (Portray Renowned IT Personality), TechBytes (IT Drama Competition), Art of Argument (Debate Competition), Web Artistry (Web Designing Competition), Toon Fusion (2D Animation Competition), Reel-o-Mania (Reel-Making Competition), Bid Wars (Bidding Competition), SlidesGo (Presentation on an assigned Topic in Technology), Round-1 of Code Combat (The Coder vs. Player Showdown), CodeFix (The Coding & Debugging Challenge), Gaming (Mortal Kombat and FIFA) and Round 1 of Sports (Online Chess). Besides these, there were an additional event titled Drishtikon (Photography Competition) for which the participants had to submit their photographs prior to the event.

The second day began with the remaining competitions, conducted from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, which included: DJ Fusion (Audio Mixing Competition), Code Crawl (Treasure Hunt), Innovation Ignite (Business Idea Competition), Geek-o-Telligence (Quiz Compretition), Round-2 of Code Combat (The Coder vs. Player Showdown) and Round 2 of Sports (Chess).

The event concluded with the valedictory function with Officiating Principal, Prof. Sanjay P. Sawant Dessai acknowledging the competitive spirit of all participants. A comprehensive report on the two-day’s activities was read by the Student Coordinator of Spectra 2024-25, Miss Bhakti Mirashi. Faculty Co-Coordinator for Spectra 2024-25, Asst. Prof. Rama Borkar, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all participants, dignitaries, and volunteers for their invaluable contributions, hard work and enthusiasm in making the event a resounding success. The prize distribution was conducted by Asst. Prof. Ankita Naik, Asst. Prof. Sweta P. Shet Verenkar and Asst. Prof. Andre Pacheco. Awards were presented to the top-performing teams, recognizing their achievements and encouraging further exploration in the field of information technology. The overall winner and runner-up trophies were sponsored by MoU partner, Mr. Mohsin Shaikh, Founder Director at Haztech.

The Results of the individual events are as follows:

The Winner of Spectra 2024-25 were Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, Goa. The Runner-Up were Don Bosco College, Panjim, Goa.

The Spectra logo and brochure were designed by Mr. Khushal Naik, student of SY BVoc.(ST). The Spectra Website Editing Team was led by Asst. Prof. Samira Vengurlekar, along with Miss Aifa Shaikh, Miss Shrawya Shetty, Miss Shital Sharma, Mr. Ashley Colaco and Miss Apsara Ghorasain, students of TY BCA, Div B.  The overall student In-charges for Spectra events were as follows: Mr. Ved Prabhudessai from TY BVoc.(ST) was in-charge of the Sports Evsents, Miss Purva Kamat from TY BVoc.(ST) was in-charge of the Gaming Events, Mr. Anito Fernandes from SY BVoc.(ST) and Mr. Daksh Lotlikar  from SYBCA, Div A were in-charge of the On-stage Events,  Ms. Shaina Kamat SY BVoc.(ST) and Mr. Trushank Prabhudesai from FY BCA, Div A were in-charge of the Off-stage Events. 

The compere for Inaugural and Valedictory functions were Miss Anushree Sadanand from SY BCA, Div B and Miss Adaa Shaikh from FY BCA, Div B respectively.

Spectra 2024-25 provided a dynamic platform for students to learn, innovate, and collaborate with like-minded peers, fostering not just competition but also camaraderie and networking. The event was a true celebration of technical brilliance and creativity, leaving a lasting impact on all who participated.

Expected Outcome of the Activity

SPECTRA 2024-25 aims to foster creativity, teamwork, and confidence among students through cultural, literary, and performing arts competitions. It provides a platform to showcase talents, develop leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills. The event promotes inclusivity, cultural appreciation, and collaboration among students. Strengthening bonds between students, faculty, and alumni, it enhances the college’s vibrant atmosphere. Ultimately, SPECTRA 2024-25 contributes to holistic development, preparing students for academic and professional challenges while upholding the institution’s tradition of excellence.
