The Department of Economics & Banking organized a Session on “The Role of Investment in Business Decision-Making” by Dr. Celso Fernandes, M.D. Nave Marg Foundation, on 9th March 2023. 110 FY B.Com students attended the session, which aimed to provide students with an understanding of investment and know the techniques of investment in business decision-making. At the outset, Ms. Sejal Goes, a student of FY B.Com (D), welcomed the Resource Person and also introduced him to the audience.
Dr. Fernandes began his lecture by introducing the concept of investment. He provided detailed insights into the meaning of saving, investment, trading, and insurance, which are very critical terms to be understood when it comes to managing finances in one’s business. He stressed the importance of keeping money ready for future use. He also emphasized that we should never stick to only one source of income, and try to diversify our investments. He made the session extremely interactive by posing a lot of questions to the students and distributing gifts to the ones who answered appropriately. The entire lecture was thoroughly enlightening and applicable to the decision-making of finances in Business.
The session ended at 12:15 p.m. Ms. Shaina Antao, a student of FY B.Com (D), proposed the Vote of Thanks. The guest lecture was coordinated by Assistant Professors, Ms. Lizette D’Costa, Ms. Pretty Pereira, Mr. Sanjay Velip, and Ms. Stesa Pereira.
