A session on “Self-Care and its importance” was held for all the non teaching staff members of the College on the occasion of International Self-Care Day on July 24th, 2021. The Resource Person was the College Counselor, Ms. Amba Prabhu. 14 non-teaching staff attended the session.
This session focused on what is self-care and why it is important for us to practice it. Before beginning the session the participants were given a small activity in which they had to write down their daily routine and identify the activities they do for themselves. She began the session with discussion on health and its components. She specifically focused on mental health and how to improve it.
She spoke in detail about self care, the challenges faced by people to include self care in their routine. She then went on to explain different areas of self-care.
She also highlighted the different myths about self care. After debunking some myths she spoke about the importance of self-care in our lives and why we should indulge in it. She also touched upon how to take care of oneself during the pandemic. Lastly a small video was screened on self-care.
The floor was open for participants to share their inputs about self-care and to ask any questions or queries if they had any. The session concluded at 3:00 p.m.
