Session on Recent Trends in Marketing

The Postgraduate Department of Commerce organized a session on ‘Recent Trends in Marketing’ for the students of the M.Com on 12th April 2023. The Resource Person for the session was Mr. Gilbert Mendes. At the start of the session, Mr. Gilbert Mendes gave an introduction to the topics that would be covered, which included personalization, influencer marketing, interactive marketing, voice search optimization, sustainability, and artificial intelligence. He then proceeded to discuss the importance of the 4 Ps of marketing and how crucial it is to identify the right market for a product by asking the right questions. To further illustrate this point, he provided real-life examples such as ChatGPT, a software program that helps users write CVs and LinkedIn bios by asking the right questions. He also highlighted the success of Swiggy/Zomato in creating a wide reach and engaging customers.

Mr. Gilbert Mendes also shared two informative videos related to the topic. The first video showcased Nestle’s successful use of influencer marketing in Japan, where they created coffee candy, sugary coffee drinks, and eventually coffee, which transformed Japan from a tea-loving nation to a coffee-loving one. The second video discussed the power of branding and compared the loyalty of Apple and Samsung customers through a loyalty test. Overall, the session was very interactive, intriguing, and informative. A total of 50 students attended the session.
