Session on “Introduction to Blockchain”

Alumni Reconnect Series-II was organized by the Department of Computer Science in collaboration with the Alumni Engagement Cell on the topic “Introduction to Blockchain” on 21st October 2022. The Resource Person for the session was an Alumnus, Mr. Dinesh Rivankar, currently working for Persistent Systems in Verna Goa as an Architect. A total of 110 students attended the session.

Principal Prof. Prita D. Mallya welcomed the students and the Resource Person. She mentioned that it is important for students to take advantage of knowledge of the latest technologies from the Resource Person, ask as many questions as possible, and try to grasp the technology as much as they can. Students should take advantage of this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the latest trends in the IT sector.

Ms. Girija Gaonkar, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science introduced the Resource Person and was the compere for the session.

Mr. Dinesh Rivankar discussed about the basics of Blockchain.  He explained blockchain from a very basic to an advanced level in a very simple manner. He also demonstrated the working knowledge of Blockchain with real-time examples, its pros and cons, etc. He also informed the future prospects of Blockchain. The Session concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by TY BCA student Ms. Andrea. Mr. Sameer P. Patil and Ms. Sweta Shet Verenkar were the teachers in charge of the session.
