The BBA(Financial Services) Department organized an interactive awareness session themed “Glimpses of Professionalism: CA and CS” for the BBA(FS) students of the College on 24th August 2019. The session was aimed at creating awareness about two rewarding professional career options, viz. Chartered Accountancy and Company Secretary and providing thorough insights about the overall program structure and related aspects.
The Resource Persons were Adv. S. Ramarao, ICSI, Goa Chapter, Panaji, CA Anup Borkar, CA Udhesh Xete Verenkar, CA Praseel Kamat and CA Divya Prabhu. 35 students attended.
The session began with an exhaustive elucidation by Adv. S. Rama Rao about the CS program conducted by ICSI. He covered the following points: Introduction to CS and ICSI, need of a CS, employment prospects, further academic pursuits, registration and training, the levels in CS program, eligibility criteria for each level, fee details for each level, cut off dates for each level and subjects provided for each level. Mr. Rao also responded to all the queries raised by the students followed by some key tips to succeed as a Company Secretary.
The session was followed by a brief interactive introduction to the CA program and ICAI by CA Anup Borkar. CA Udhesh Verenkar made a comprehensive presentation on the course structure and pedagogy of Chartered Accountancy. CA Prasheel Kamat and CA Divya Prabhu added value to the session by providing valuable inputs on how to prepare for CA exams and how to prepare for the challenging practice after getting awarded the CA professional title.
A total number of 35 students from the BBA(FS) programme attended the session. Faculty members from BBA(FS) and B.Com. Department were also present for the session. Students provided a positive feedback for the session appreciating the apt choice of speakers and the clarity in knowledge they obtained during the session. They also requested to conduct similar sessions on CMA and CFA in the next semester.
