Session on “Emerging Trends in AI industry”

The Department of Computer Science, organized a session on “Emerging Trends in the AI Industry” on 20th December, 2023 from 9:00 to 11:00 am for the BCA and B.Voc.(ST) students. The Resource Person for the session was Mr. Saurabh Kanekar, Engineering Lead in Machine Learning Competency at Persistent Systems.

The welcome address was delivered by a student from TY B.Voc.(ST), Malik Rehan. Following this, the Principal, Prof. Prita Mallya, extended a warm welcome to our distinguished Resource Person, emphasizing the significance of workshops like this in keeping our students informed about the ever-evolving landscape of technology.

Mr. Saurabh Kanekar, a professional in the Information Technology field, commenced his lecture by giving a brief overview of the AI landscape and how the IT industry revolves around AI today. Students were informed about various applications of artificial intelligence (AI) used in the IT industry and how the development progresses with AI. He also discussed how AI relates to Machine Learning and Data Science and their importance to the IT industry today. Furthermore, Mr. Saurabh mentioned how AI works in a multidisciplinary environment and how the tools and platforms are accessible to students.

As the session neared its end, an interactive Q&A session took place, allowing students to pose their queries and seek clarifications about the AI industry. Ms. Shaina Kamat from FY B.Voc.(ST) proposed the Vote of Thanks. 110 students and 5 faculty members attended the session. Overall, the session was informative, engaging, and succeeded in enhancing students’ understanding of the subject matter.
