The B.Com and BBA(FS) Departments organized a Seminar on Securities Market for the SY, TY B.Com and BBA(FS) students, parents and faculty members on 31st January, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for B.Com students and from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for BBA(FS) students.

Three sessions were organized: ‘Introduction to Securities Market’ by Miss. Candelina Rodrigues, Assistant Manager, NSDL. The Resource Person emphasized on the role of NSDL, the growth of NSDL, the contribution of the security market in GDP and the procedure to open a Demat Account. She further explained about DIS (Delivery Instructions Slip) and its importance while selling securities. She stressed upon the importance of having nominees in the Demat account. NSDL Consolidated account statements were also discussed with the students. The Resource Person concluded the session by sharing the rules of investing in the Security Market and the Grievances Redressal Mechanism in Security Market.
The second session was on ‘Health and Wealth’ by Mr. Sanjay Nunes, Sr. Executive, Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India Ltd., Mumbai. He elaborated on the significance of investing, the steps in financial planning which will create wealth for an individual in the long run. He concluded the session by highlighting the golden rules for good health and wealth.
The third session was by Mr. Devang Shah, Manager Research, Angel Broking Ltd, Mumbai on the topic “Market Research”. He elaborated on how inflation affects stock prices, trading/ investing psychology, budget expectations, money management, stop loss concept, higher top higher bottom concept. He demonstrated technical analysis by taking an example of a company’s share.
The students opined that the seminar was fruitful since they were exposed to a very important topic, i.e. investments in the securities market. The seminar concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by a student.
