SAKSHAM is a national organization committed to helping the differently-abled members of the community. While SAKSHAM helps people with all types of disabilities, its major focus is on promoting the welfare of the visually disabled. With the passing of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 (RPwD Act 2016),the number of recognized disabilities has increased from 7 to 21.In order to extend assistance to disabled people, the authorities need the database to be updated. Hence there is a great need for taking up a survey to identify persons with disabilities.
SAKSHAM GOA proposes to undertake this survey in Goa from 26th January to 10th February, 2020, with the help of NSS Volunteers from various colleges of Goa. Training forNSS volunteers from three Colleges around Margao viz. Government College, Borda, Rosary College, Navelim and Damodar College, Comba was conducted in the College on 9th January, 2020 from 11.15am to 12.30 pm. 16 students of our College who volunteered to be the part of the survey attended thetraining program.The Resource Personwas Mr. Santosh Kamat from ‘Saksham Goa’.
