RBI90 Quiz Competition

06 Students (2 male, 4 female) from the BBA(Financial Services) programme represented VVM’s Shree Damodar College in the RBI90 Quiz Competition, a nationwide quiz competition for undergraduate students organized by  Reserve Bank of India to celebrate its 90th anniversary. The quiz challenged participants on various topics, including history, economics, current affairs etc. The online round, held from 19th to 21st September 2024, saw the participation of 51 colleges across Goa, totaling 165 teams with two members each. From these, 45 teams were selected for the state round.

On 10th October, the state round was held in Panjim Convention Centre, Vistar Estates. All the teams were welcomed with RBI-customized t-shirt, bag, pen, diary, etc, followed by breakfast for the participating teams, faculty and staff, organized by the Financial Inclusion & Development Department (FIDD), Panaji Regional Office. The event started at 9:45 AM with an orientation session, lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries and an inaugural address by the Regional Director of RBI.

The first round of the quiz competition began at 10:15 AM and included 30 questions. Each team was provided with a sheet of paper to write their answers on, which was evaluated immediately after the round got over at 11:15 AM. After the first round, the top six teams advanced to the final round of the State level competition, which featured buzzer rounds and engaged not only the participants but also the audience with questions and prizes for correct answers. This inclusive setup heightened the competitive atmosphere and ensured audience involvement.

Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani (Goa campus), emerged as the winner, followed by Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi in second place, and Shree Rayeshwar Institute of Engineering & Information Technology in third. Prizes for the top three teams were awarded at Rs. 2 lakhs, Rs. 1.5 lakh, and Rs. 1 lakh, respectively, with the winning team moving on to the zonal round to be held in Mumbai. Additionally, Mrs. Ashwini Devari, Assistant Professor in Financial Services at VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics receiving a bouquet as the college had received the maximum participation across all the colleges in Goa. Our college had three teams participating for the State level round.

Expected Outcome of the Activity

Participants gained valuable insights into the Reserve Bank of India’s functions and expanded their general knowledge. This experience enhanced their exposure to competitive events, and each team member received a participation certificate, which will benefit them in future endeavours.
