The P.G. Department of Commerce (M.Com) organized ‘Presentations on Summer Training’ on 30th July 2022.Inorder to become eligible for admission to second year M.Com course, every student has to undergo a four weeks Summer Training in commercial and industrial organizationsat the end of Semester II. The main objective of the Summer Training is to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical exposure.
The Presentations commenced with a brief overview on importance of internship and its requirement for M.Com Programme given by Asst. Prof. Seema Dharani. A total of 26 students presented on their respective job experiences and learning acquired in various organizations such as Government Offices (such as Office of Directorate of Accounts); Commercial and Industrial Organizations (such as Kanaks Safety Equipment, Manish Electronics); Financial Consultants (such as Financial Wisdom, Shreeji Investments), Business Management Consultants (such as Kakode Consultancy Ltd.), Resort (such as Lalit Golf and Spa Resort); Bank (such as HDFC Bank) and other similar organizations. Students presented on various tasks performed at the organizations such as service card handling,maintenance of audit books, stock markets analysis, performance analysis of mutual funds, handling social media pages, documentation, gaining knowledge of mutual funds and insurance products and general office work. Four students completed their internship with MOU Accosphere, Certified Public Accountants, Margao, where they performed the tasks of preparation of financial statements, e-Filing of returns, calculation of capital gains and other tax related work.A student cum entrepreneur along with another student performed the activities of expansion of candle business of Golden Flames by marketing the products at various Resorts and establishments.
Students gained hands on experience at the business organizations and government offices. Experiencing the corporate working environment, improvement in communication skills, gaining of confidence for future endeavors, understanding the need for continuous learning and skill enhancements were the major Learning Outcomes of the Summer Internship Programme. The Presentations ended at 2.30 p.m.
A total of 26 M. Com Part-II students presented their work. Asst. Prof. Seema Dharani, along with other faculty members, Asst. Prof. Twinkle Fernandes and Asst. Prof. Valencia Baptista were present.
