Presentation on “Literature and Pandemic: A study of Albert Camus’s ‘The Plague – A Chronicle of Human Devastation and Hope”

The Research Cell organised a presentation on “Literature and Pandemic: A study of Albert Camus’s The Plague – A Chronicle of Human Devastation and Hope’’ from 12.15 to 1.15 pm on 22nd  January, 2021 through the Google Meet platform. Mr. Sandesh Gaonkar, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Commerce and Management introduced the presenter Ms. Samiksha Vengurlekar, Assistant Professor in English. Dr. Lira Gama (Coordinator) and Mr. Sandesh Gaonkar (Member) were the teachers in charge for the same. 32 teachers attended the session.

Ms. Samiksha Vengurlekar addressed the importance of Literature and its role during a pandemic through a study of Albert Camus’s ‘The Plague’. The presentation focused on literature being a reflection of life. The presenter focused on pandemics and the resulting devastation, and how it influences writers across the globe. The theme of human loss, devastation and hope was analysed through the selected work of Albert Camus – ‘The Plague’.

The session concluded at 1.15 p.m. Dr. Lira Gama proposed the Vote of Thanks.
