The Post Graduate Department of Commerce screened the movie ‘The Pursuit of Happyness’ on 8th July 2023 between 11.30 am to 1.30 pm in the classroom T- 304 as a part of the PG Club Activity. The purpose of screening this film was to help the students understand the values of persistence and hard work in achieving their dreams.
Ms. Twinkle Fernandes, the Programme Coordinator, greeted the students and provided them with a brief insight into the movie ‘The Pursuit of Happyness.’ The movie is based on the life of Mr. Christopher Gardner, a salesman of bone density scanners, who finds hope even at rock bottom and manages to build a good life for himself and his son. As he attempts to do so, he had to fight several battles and hardships at different phases of his life. Christopher narrates the 6 stages or phases of his life namely Riding the bus, Being stupid, Money, Internship, Paying Taxes and Happiness.
The movie’s powerful message resonated with the students, reminding them that having a vision or dream is only the beginning; the key lies in relentlessly pursuing it and never giving up. As Commerce students, they were encouraged to set ambitious goals and work diligently towards them, even when things don’t go as planned. As young and innovative thinkers, the students were encouraged to explore new concepts and come up with creative solutions to address societal problems, thus capturing the attention of their target audience. The movie highlighted the significance of both hard work and smart work. While dedicated efforts are crucial, students were also urged to leverage their unique skills and strengths to their advantage, significantly enhancing their chances of achieving their goals.
A total of 56 students attended the movie screening with great enthusiasm.
