Panel Discussion on ‘Is COVID-19 A Reset Button for the Goan Economy?’

The Economics Club in association with Prudent Media, organised a Panel Discussion titled “Is COVID-19 a Reset Button for the Goan Economy?” on 3rd November 2020 at 12:00 p.m. via Zoom platform. It was telecast on Prudent Media on 7th November 2020 at 7:00 p.m. followed by a repeat telecast at 10:00 p.m. It was also uploaded on the YouTube Channel of Prudent Media and received 1,148 views as of 9th November 2020.

The panel consisted of eminent personalities holding prominent positions across different sectors in Goa. The panelists were

  • Amit Chopra, President of Goa Association of Realtors representing the realty sector,
  • Kirit Maganlal, the Founder & CEO of Magsons Group from the retail sector,
  • Sangam Kurade the Chairman and Managing Director of Dr. Kurade’s Group of Companies, representing the agricultural sector,
  • Tejashri Pai, the CEO at Chowgule Industries Pvt. Ltd., from the automobile sector,
  • Nilesh Shah, the President of the Travel & Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG), from the tourism sector,
  • Francis Socorro Serrao, the Managing Director at Crosscraft Event Management representing the entertainment sector and
  • Anthony Gaskell the Convener of the Confederation of Indian Industry Goa Logistics Panel representing the logistics sector.

Ms. Stesa Elsie Pereira, the convener of the Economics Club commenced the panel discussion by introducing the panelists as well as the moderator for the session. Mr. Nitin Kunkolienker, the President of Vidya Vikas Mandal, delivered the opening remarks. This was followed by opening remarks from each of the panel members. Mr. Pramod Acharya, Director & Editor, Prudent Media was the moderator for the discussion and he engaged the panel members in an active discussion attempting to examine the current scenario and provide valuable insights about the impact of the pandemic on various sectors in Goa. The panel discussion aptly encapsulated the theme and was wrapped up with closing remarks from Principal Prof. Prita D. Mallya. Ms. Stesa Pereira delivered the vote of thanks and concluded the panel discussion.
