The Centre for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) of the College in association with SAKSHAM Goa conducted an Outreach activity for the students of Jyot School for Autism on 6th September 2023 in the smart classroom. 05 students from the Jyot School, accompanied by their teachers and support staff were a part of this activity.
The program commenced with a warm welcome address from Principal Prof. Prita Mallya. She emphasized the significance of inclusive education, particularly in the context of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Prof. Mallya also congratulated the DEI Cell, led by Dr. Shami Pai, for organizing this outreach initiative. The student members of DEI cell, Mr. Kewal and Ms. Zakiya introduced the esteemed guests, Mr. Govind Kelkar, Secretary of SAKSHAM Goa, and Mr. Abhay Prabhu, President of SAKSHAM Goa. Mr. Abhay Prabhu shared insights into SAKSHAM’s role and emphasized that special children do not seek sympathy but rather understanding and empathy. As a token of appreciation, a potted plant was presented to Mr. Abhay Prabhu.
During the program, Raksha Bandhan was celebrated wherein college students tied Rakhis to the students from Jyot School, fostering a sense of connection and camaraderie. The program featured several engaging activities, including drawing, coloring, and crafts, which the students from Jyot School enthusiastically participated in, thoroughly enjoying themselves.
The event concluded on a positive note with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Safaa Sayad. The Outreach Program concluded at 10:30 am, leaving behind cherished memories of inclusivity and collaboration.
