Mr. Gajanan Haldankar and Ms. Swati Bhat from the Department of Commerce & Management conducted a session on Career Guidance in Commerce & Time Management as a part of Outreach activity for the 8th to 10th Standard students of St. Xavier’s High School, Moira, Goa on 15th July 2022.
The first Session began at 10:00 a.m. which was conducted by Mr. Gajanan Haldankar, Assistant Professor in Commerce on ‘Career Guidance in Commerce’. He introduced the students with different career options after Std 10th, specifically focusing on Commerce stream. Students were asked to tell the courses that they are interested in and simultaneously Mr. Gajanan guided them with the procedure to be followed to enrol for those courses. It was very enlightening to know that many students showed interest in Professional courses like Chartered Accountancy and Company Secretary. He also motivated the students to be visionary and focus on different opportunities available in the Commerce streams.
The second session was conducted by Ms. Swati Bhat, Assistant Professor in Commerce on ‘Time Management’. She began the session informing students that to achieve any career goals, it is very important to manage time effectively. She focused more on Time Management tips and told the students to identify every task they perform as important or urgent and based on that allot the time for that task. To conclude the session, she advised students not to get addicted to social media and waste time. She created awareness about the various informative and knowledgeable YouTube channels, news channels, Instagram pages that can be tracked to keep themselves updated.
Students of St. Xavier’s High School were very enthusiastic and interactive. They were keen to seek knowledge which motivated the speakers to provide them with the guidance.
