The Department of Economics and Banking conducted an outreach activity on 25thJanuary 2020 at two Higher Secondary Schools, viz. Carmel Higher Secondary School, Nuvem and Fr. Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Verna. The faculty members involved were Dr. Lira M. Gama, Ms. Stesa Pereira and Ms. Lizette D’Costa.
The activity comprised a session on career guidance for students of class XII (Commerce and Vocational stream) of the two institutions. Various career options which are available on completion of Class XII were put before students by way of a PowerPoint Presentation. Special emphasis was laid on the programmes offered at Shree Damodar College.
At the end of the session students asked questions regarding CA, CS and the cut off percentage for admission in the Commerce stream at our college. The students and teachers of both Higher Secondary Schools were very grateful for the awareness session and said that more activities of this manner are required since it not only creates awareness but also provides a platform for clarifying students’ doubts with respect to career options and choices. The sessions were attended by 83 students at Carmel Higher Secondary School, Nuvem and 56 students at Fr.Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Verna.
