The Department of Computer Science organised an Orientation Programme for the Parents on 14th July 2018. Principal Dr.Prita D. Mallya and vice principal Dr. Sanjay Dessai were present for the occasion. This orientation programme was organised with an aim to share important information related to the curriculum, examination, extra-curricular activities, facilities and resources available for the students. This was an effort to bridge the communication gap between the parent teacher and the student.
The programme started with the Principal Dr. Prita D. Mallya briefing the audience about the College, its campus and facilities offered. She emphasized that this course is more intensive and practical based as compared to other programmes and hence the students have to put in more efforts. She also appealed to parents to motivate their wards for timely submission of assignments and to report for lecture at 7.45am. She informed the parents that Shree Damodar College has one of the best faculty members, good supplement of add-on courses and best facilities in terms of well equipped labs with latest softwares. She emphasized that Damodar College focuses on overall development of the students.
Programme Co-ordinator, Ms Ekta Agarwal introduced the BCA programme highlights to the parents and briefed on the infrastructure and other facilities available for the students. She then introduced all the faculty members to the audience.
Mr. Sunil Naik informed parents regarding importance and rules related to attendance. Mr Naik also briefed on seminars, workshops, industrial visits and add on courses conducted for students to bridge the gap between industry requirements and academics. Ms. Namita Neurenkar explained the examination system to the parents and answered their queries regarding exam system. Ms. Namrata Haldankar informed the parents about college timings and overall rules and regulations to be followed by students in campus, about the library facilities and introduced the mentors of FY students and the counsellor of the college. Mr.Gajanan Nial briefed the audience about the various trainings sessions on career counselling organised by the career and placement cell. He informed the parents about the extension activities of the department like E-Madhyam, Scratch programming for high school students conducted by our students with a sense of social responsibility. Ms. Pooja Pai Khot introduced the Technology Club – Tech Trendz to the audience and briefed them of all activities of the club and also highlighted our students achievements in intercollegiate events.
This was followed by a demo of the Campus Management Software to help parents to access all student related information like attendance, examination, timetable, events etc. Parents were informed that regular SMS and E-mail alerts would be sent to the parents from time to time. This was followed by an interactive session by the parents where the parents actively participated by sharing their views and suggestions. The programme ended at 12.30 pm.
