National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the College organised a visit to old age home “Provedoria” on 27th September 2023. The objective of this visit was to extend our services to the elderly residents, offer companionship, and present a small cultural programme for them. Provedoria is a well-established facility located in Margao, dedicated to providing care and support to elderly individuals who may lack family support or need specialized care due to various reasons. The home is equipped with essential amenities and staffed with dedicated professionals.
The NSS volunteers were warmly welcomed by the staff and residents of the old age home. After a brief introduction, the volunteers spent time engaging in meaningful conversations with the elderly residents. They listened to their life stories, experiences, and personal anecdotes. These interactions helped form personal connections and allowed the elderly residents to express their thoughts and feelings.
To boost the spirits of the residents, a range of entertainment activities were organized. This included singing, dancing and acting. The residents actively participated in these activities and enjoyed the lively atmosphere.
The visit to “Provedoria” was a heartening and rewarding experience. It emphasized the importance of compassion, service, and community involvement. 71 NSS volunteers were a part of the visit.
