The Post Graduate Department of the College organized ‘Newspaper Analysis’ – session II as a part of departmental activities for the M.Com students on 21st November 2020 at12.30pm via Google Meet platform. The session focused on classifying news into various categories such as business news, international news, local and national news, sports news and featured personality. International news category covered topics such as – Signing of RCEP agreement by ASEAN countries, signing of Defence pact by Japan and Australia to counter China’s influence. The topics covered under local news category were -Save Mollem campaign and Road to Goa’s economic recovery. Under Sports category – news and achievements in the area of Hockey, Boxing, Cricket and Football were highlighted. Topics such as increase in investment in equities and compressed bio-gas plants were discussed under business news category. Also, Wipro founder-chairman Azim Premji topping the philanthropy list 2020 was considered under featured personality category.
The presenters for this session were students from M.Com Part II, namely Tabbasom Chaudhary, Priyanka Rawat, Rohit Prajapati, Tehreem Shaikh and Reneta Costa. Students shared their observations and views on the articles they had selected and also highlighted the important components of the same. This was then followed by a Q&A session. 33 students from M.Com Part I and Part II attended the session.
