National Webinar on AI- Virtuality in Reality

img1Vidya Vikas Mandal has entered  its 50th Year and to mark the Golden Jubilee celebrations, the Department of Computer Science of Shree Damodar College in association with ICFAI Business School, Bangalore organized a National Webinar on AI – Virtuality in Reality on 29th October, 2020  from 9:30 am to 2 pm through the Google Meet platform. The webinar was also streamed live on the College YouTube Channel. The main aim of this webinar was to provide participants with knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and its importance in the current era.

The Webinar began with the welcome address by Principal Dr. Prita D. Mallya who spoke about the need for having a webinar in the area of Artificial Intelligence. She focused on Industry 4.0 mentioning the developmental process in the management of manufacturing and chain production. She urged the participants to take full advantage of this webinar and have a productive learning experience.

Mr. Sumit Kumar, Head of the Department of Computer Science gave a brief introduction to the Webinar, informing about the history of Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its various applications in Robotics, Google search prediction, Chat box, Self-driving, Weather forecasting, Gaming, Healthcare and many more.

The Keynote Speaker was Prof. Santhosh Rebello, Prof & Dean, AIMIT, St Aloysius Mangalore. Mrs. Namita Neurenkar, faculty from Dept. of Computer Science introduced the keynote speaker.

Prof. Santhosh Rebello spoke about recognizing the value of Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning in Business. His session was about Industry 1.0 to 4.0: The Evolution of Smart Factories discovering four ways to define Artificial Intelligence. Prof. Santhosh explained about three key domains – Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) and gave numerous real life applications of AI and ML.

The Resource Person for the next session was Dr. Swetha Puneet, Faculty IT Systems, ICFAI Business School, Bangalore, who spoke on the topic Business Analytics – Simplify your data to amplify its Value. Mrs. Sweta P. ShetVerenkar, Faculty from Department of Computer Science introduced Dr. Swetha Puneet.

Dr. Swetha Puneet emphasized on the data that gets exchanged in a single minute over the Internet. Dr Swetha informed about the importance of pandemic giving a boost to being digitally literate. Cloud Computing, IoT, Cybersecurity, automation and AI will be in the forefront as enterprises accelerate their Digital transformation journey. Dr. Swetha provided details of analytics in formulating strategies and concluded mentioning that Digital Literacy & Digital Fluency is required for better opportunities.

The Resource Person for the last session was Dr. Bharathi Malakreddy, Prof and HOD BMSIT Bangalore speaking on the topic Artificial Intelligence in India – Vision 2020. Mr. Swapneel Naik, Faculty member from the Department of Computer Science introduced Dr. Bharathi Malakareddy.

Dr. Bharathi Malakareddy spoke about the power of AI heading towards the road to digital transformation. Dr. Bharathi touched upon the evolution of AI and covered insights of AI in education by integration of online and offline education and on how AI tools can help the Teaching-Learning process. She also highlighted the role of AI tools in COVID-19 for viruses modeling analysis, use of ML algorithm to correlate patients’ data and predict risk factors.

Mr. Bhiku Bhave proposed the Vote of Thanks. A total of 640 Participants registered for the Webinar. The compere for the Webinar was Ms. Akshada Hegde, faculty member from the Department of Computer Science.

The webinar concluded at 2:00 pm. Participants received an e-certificate after filling the feedback form.
