The Department of Computer Science of the College organized a two-day National Level Workshop on Internet of Things on February 8th and 9th 2018. The workshop was organized in collaboration with Innovation Cell, IIT Mumbai and Robokart. The College has signed an MOU with Robokart – reach partners of E-Cell IIT Mumbai to conduct skill-based certificate courses for students.
The resource person was Mr. Nabeel Qreshi, a practicing engineer and researcher at Robokart in the latest trends of Information and Technology.
54 students along with 8 faculty members participated in the workshop. Participants of the workshop received indepth understanding and sufficient hands on training in IoT. Mr. Nabeel began by introducing micro-controller, microprocessor with emphasis on Arduino micro-controller . The entire workshop was centered around this micro-controller. Students were given a hands-on tutorial in LED Blinking, controlling DC motor, interfacing temperature sensor and calibrating room temperature, potentiometer. Wi-Fi setup, with home automation (blinking, motor, buzzer)
The participants were also given an assignment. On assessment of the assignment, 11 students viz. Dharmesh Tyagi, Akshay Verlekar, Vinayak Juwarkar, Akshay Bhosle, Semuilla Yallapur, Zameer Shaikh, Shaunak Bale, Sangharsh Lollienkar, Tushar Karishetty, Siddhant Kholkar and Moni Kumari were selected for internship at Robokart, Mumbai.
The participants found the workshop very useful as it focused on practical issues related to IoT, giving them a competitive advantage over their peers when they step into their professional life in the corporate world. The workshop opened up another avenue for students to consider IoT as an entrepreneurial endeavor.
