The Department of Commerce and Management in association with the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Goa, organized a National Conference on “Emerging Global Practices in Finance & Management” on 11th March 2023.
Addressing the gathering, Principal of the College, Prof. Prita D Mallya highlighted the significance of the topic in the current times. The Conference Coordinator, Dr. Sheetal Arondekar gave an overview of the Conference. The esteemed Keynote speaker Prof. Anil Kumar, Professor, University of Delhi, spoke about global scenarios in the corporate sector with the stress on the emerging use of AI in data mining. He also urged the teaching fraternity to inculcate changes in curriculum to keep the students abreast with the emerging practices.
Plenary sessions
The plenary sessions opened up different avenues for research and implementation of different aspects in finance, marketing, accounting and management. The first Speaker, Mr Bharat Bambawale, Author and Marketing Expert, elucidated on Emerging Global trends in Marketing, the concept of diversity in marketing and shared his time-tested Customer motivators model and Brand octagon model. The second Plenary session was addressed by CA Gaurav Kenkre who highlighted the impact of ESG on global finance and emerging practices in Accounting. Speaking about AI, he demonstrated the use of newly invented Chat GPT3 and mentioned that AI may soon overpower the human race.
Technical Sessions
Technical session 1 chaired by Dr Harip Khanapuri, Faculty, Goa Business School, had an array of 14 research papers presented on topics such as Mutual funds, NBFCs, Equity markets, Mobile commerce, Tourism, Transportation and Banking.
Technical session 2 was chaired by Dr. Pournima Dhume, Faculty, Goa Business School. This session was conducted in hybrid mode, had a total of 13 research papers presented on areas such as Chat GPT, teaching techniques, GST, Insurance and MSMEs in Goa.
The Chief Guest for the Valedictory Function was Prof. Niyan Marchon, State Higher Education Council, Directorate of Higher Education, Goa. He congratulated the institution for having conducted the Conference, which provided researchers with a platform to present their ideas and work. Participants were given certificates of participation.
