The Readers’ Club organised a Movie Screening of the Book Adaptation – ‘Call of the Wild’ by Jack London, for the Members of the Readers’ Club on the 7th September, 2023 at 12.40 p.m. It was organized by Dr. Monica M. Patil, Convenor, Readers’ Club.
The film is based on a classic American novel by John Griffith Chaney (1876-1916), better known as Jack London, who was an American novelist, journalist, social activist, and a pioneer of commercial fiction and American magazines. He was also an innovator in the genre that later came to be known as science fiction.
First published in 1903, The Call of the Wild is regarded as Jack London’s masterpiece and is based on his experiences as a gold Prospector in the Canadian wilderness and his ideas about nature and the struggle for existence. The Call of the Wild is a tale about an unbreakable spirit and the fight for survival in the frozen Alaskan Klondike, that has been enjoyed by various readers for over a century. The adaptation is a nicely crafted film with a fast-paced story, providing enough dramatic excitement and fun, especially for youngsters.
