The Department of Management organized an Inter-Collegiate event “Money Matters 5.0” for Undergraduate students across Goa on 6th March 2023 and the theme for the event was “Time is Money”. The aim of the event was to create a ‘Real-Life’ situation to educate students in facing and handling the challenges that they may come across in the increasingly complex and dynamic markets of the modern world. “Money Matters 5.0” provided a great platform for the students to showcase their skills and talents.
5 Colleges namely Dempo College, Don Bosco College, Rosary College, Carmel College and M.E.S College participated in the event, whichcomprised7 sub-events named Jagruti, Stock Wars, Hammer the Box, Corporate Roadies, Econowhiz, Battle it Out and Chanakyaniti.
The inaugural function began with the welcome address by Dr. Shami Pai, Head of Department of Commerce. The keynote speaker for the event was Mr. Abhijit Sawant, CEO of ABHI Ganesh Investment Service Pvt. Ltd. and an alumnus of the College, who gave an introduction about finance and its relevance in our lives. He shared his journey working as a Financial Advisor and the challenges he encountered. The speaker appreciated the department for hosting such event which gives students a platform to exhibit their talents and to gain knowledge in a creative and enjoyable manner. The inaugural function ended at 9:30 am.
Sub-Events:
- Jagruti(Street Play) “Save Healthier. Live Happier”
The participants were required to be messengers and pass on the message of the importance of saving to the common man through a street play.

The Participants had to develop an innovative business plan addressing a real-world problem.

The Participants were required to do mock trading.

The participants had to study and analyze the position of the state and come up with a suitable strategy to boost its Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

- Corporate Roadies “Not all treasure are silver and gold, mate”
The participants were given challenges/ riddles, which once completed, led them to clues, which ultimately led them to the treasure.

The participants were required to explain the given basic economic theories or principles as simply as possible to the lay crowd.

Mr. Rajdeep R. Dessai, Managing Director of Jai Geeta Construction was the Chief Guest for the Valedictory function. The winners were awarded with trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 8000/- and the runners up were awarded with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 5000/-. The event ended with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Myron Soares, Student Coordinator from SYBBA(FS). The faculty in charge for Money Matters 5.0 were Mr. Omkar Pawaskar, Assistant Professor in Management and Ms. Vinaya Kirloskar, Assistant Professor in Commerce.
