The Post Graduate Department of Commerce (M.Com) organized an engaging competition on 18th August, 2023to commemorate the International Year of Millets 2023. The event aimed to showcase the benefits of various types of millets through a creative cooking competition for M.Com Part I & II students.
The event was introduced by Miss Petalia from M.Com II. The judges were Dr. Shami Pai and Dr. Lina Sadekar. The evaluation criteria encompassed originality of recipes, skillful incorporation of millets, visual appeal, plate composition, nutritional value, and overall presentation. Participation comprised of three teams from M.Com Part I and seven teams from M.Com Part II. The culinary offerings were diverse, including dishes such as ragirotis, moongladoos, millet momos, godshe, millet brownies, cupcakes, and millet burger cutlets. A brief presentation underscored the significance of millets and the celebration of the International Year of Millets.
Judges sampled each dish and selected the top three winners. Miss Vaishnavi Naik and Mr. Zohaid Shaikh from M.Com II secured the first place with their creations, ‘millet brownies’ and ‘millet burger cutlets’. Second place was awarded to Miss Shaheen Sayed, Miss Shabana Sayed, Miss Sasha Naik, and Miss Ruksar Shaikh from M.Com Part II for their dish ‘millet momos’. Miss Roshni Khatun and Ibrahim Papanavar from M.Com Part II clinched the third place with their dish ‘ragi roti’.
Mr. Zohaid Shaikh from M.Com Part II extended the Vote of Thanks.
