Marketing Conclave 2023

Goa Institute of Management in association with Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized Marketing Conclave 2023 on Future of Marketing: Challenges and Opportunities in Hospitality, Retail and Service Sector on 28th July 2023.

Dr. Rodney D’Silva, Ms. Cinola Vaz and Mr. Omkar Pawaskar attended the event.

The event was structured into four distinct sessions, each featuring a lineup of 12 distinguished speakers who addressed the audience. The inaugural session was initiated with opening remarks from Prof. Ajit Parulekar, Director of Goa Institute of Management. He elaborated on the crucial role of integrating technology into education and tackling the challenge of diminishing attention spans among the younger generation.

The second speaker of the day was Mr. Ralph de Souza, Immediate Past President of GCCI. Mr. Ralph underscored the significance of Goa’s hospitality industry, which is a significant employer for local residents. He elaborated on the pillars supporting the Goan tourism sector and emphasized the collective responsibility to uphold these foundational elements.

The third session featured Mr. Lalit Saraswat, CEO of Sancaole Technologies, sharing insights into the realm of digital marketing and its transformative impact on his organization’s growth trajectory. Following a short break, the fourth session commenced with Mr. Saurabh Khanna, General Manager of The Park Hotels, discussing the challenges encountered within the hospitality industry and elucidating how The Park brand expanded its presence across Goa.

Prof. Shawn Coutinho, the fifth speaker, conducted a case study on Ben & Jerry’s to highlight the role of socially responsible marketing. He presented examples illustrating how renowned brands incorporate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a central tenet of their operations. The post-lunch segment featured five speakers. Mr. Jack Sukhija, Proprietor of Hotel Panjim Inn, delved into the business models of major players within the hotel industry. Prof. Mauli Soni and Prof. Yukti Sharma explored the strategic importance of mapping consumer insights to gain a competitive edge and discussed the evolving landscape of the marketing ecosystem.

Mr. Nikhil Brid, GM of The Crown Goa, and Mr. Hari Kaul, Chairman of GCCI, elucidated on the rational and emotional behavior of customers, highlighting the imperative of fortifying the state’s retail sector through a robust undergraduate curriculum. Finally, Prof. Shantanu Prasad discussed the realm of online marketing for businesses.

The Marketing Conclave concluded at 5.30 pm with the closing remarks delivered by Prof. Nandakumar Mekoth.
