‘Literacy for Women’ Outreach Activity – Virtual Session on ‘Sustainable Waste Management’

The BBA(Financial Services) Department, in association with the IQAC and Amhi Udyogini Pratishthan, Mahila Mandal, Margao organized a virtual session on ‘Sustainable Waste Management’ under the outreach activity – ‘Literacy for Women’. The session was organized through Google Meet on 9th November 2020 from 04:00 to 05:00 p.m. for the women entrepreneurs of Amhi Udyogini Pratishtan and the public. 44 participants attended.

The session commenced with a welcome address by Mrs. Ranjita Pai, Branch Manager, Amhi Udyogini Pratishtan, Mahila Mandal, Margao followed by a brief address by the Principal, Prof. Dr. Prita D. Mallya.

Mr. Abhinav Apte, Founder, Track Change, was the original Resource Person. However, he as facing severe Internet problems, and his wife, Mrs. Apoorva Apte, Proprietor, Shubhankar Environmental Services took over as the resource person. Mrs. Apte, a reputed environmental enthusiast and conservationist, started her session by playing videos highlighting the garbage issue that is critically impacting the flora and fauna as well as causing deterioration in human health, by showcasing videos on the same. She stressed on the fact that waste management is the need of the hour and must be practiced by all. There were two parts to Ms. Apte’s session.

The first part dealt with the organic waste management activity that can be practiced at home. Mrs. Apte explained the various practices we can follow, with several justifications and examples. In the second half of the session, Mrs. Apte focused on explaining the need and process of creating an organic bio-enzyme at home that is very useful as a cleansing agent. She also put forth the various activities she has undertaken for the purpose of sustainable waste management and she urged the virtual audience to join her towards creating a better ecosystem.

The resource person addressed all the queries raised by the participants. The session ended with a vote of thanks proposed by the event coordinator. The participants provided a very positive feedback about the webinar. Ms. Apte appreciated the efforts of the College for being responsive towards addressing the social requirements proactively through innovative activities. Asst. Prof. Mayuresh Adsul coordinated and compered the event. System generated e-certificates were instantly provided to the participants.
