Industry Interaction Program-Lecture Series -1

The Post Graduate Department of Commerce organized an IIP-Lecture Series-1 on 30th October 2021 from 9.30 am to 10.30 am in the Smart Classroom.

The Program Coordinator Ms. Seema Dharani, briefed the students about the IIP sessions that are organized by the P.G Dept, every semester. It aims to enhance students’ knowledge about the industry preparedness and also providing them a platform to engage with elites from the industry.

Ms. Amily Gomes, student of M.Com part-I, introduced the Guest Speaker Ms. Jinisha Bhanushali, Director and Content Producer, Emeritus. Ms. Bhanushali began the session by speaking to the students about her early career stages. She then spoke about the Media industry with specific to national news televisions such as Times Now and Republic India Today, where she previously worked as a content director and the team leader under Mr. Arnab Goswami.

She gave a detailed description of the roles and responsibilities at media houses. She also laid emphasis on being versatile, which will give the new entrant a competitive advantage in the industry.

Moving further, Ms. Bhanushali spoke about her current job profile as a Director at Emeritus which is an MNC (Ed-tech) situated in U.S.A. She explained about the strategic approach of entry in Indian market during Covid-19 pandemic and the tremendous growth that the company achieved during that period. She also made the students aware about the various finance job roles in Media Industry like researchers for financial news channels, Content Creator for online courses, Desk team etc.

The students actively participated and also raised various queries about the career opportunities and the steps to be followed to begin career in the media industry.52 students from M.Com part -I &II attended the session.

Ms. Bhanushali also showed her keen interest for the placement of the M.Com students. The session ended with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Sankesh Bhagat, student of M.Com part-II.
