Industry Interaction Program (IIP) – Session 2

The Post-Graduate Department organised 2nd Industry Interaction Program on the 10th December 2021 from 10:30 to 11:30 am via Google Meet platform on the topic ‘Future of Marketing’. The main objective of this program was to bridge the gap between academia and industry. 52 students participated in the session.

The Resource Person for the Program was Mr. Arindam Dey, Founder & Chief Mentor at Biz| Anekdotes, B2B Performance Marketing Solutions, New Delhi. The program commenced with a brief welcome address delivered by Ms. Seema Dharani, Asst. Professor in Commerce she also gave a brief overview of the session and its relevance to the students. Ms. Sonam Shetkar, a student of M.Com Part II introduced the speaker.

Mr. Dey, began the session with a brief introduction on evolution of marketing and its role in stimulating thoughts and efforts towards the promotion and development of products/services through various platforms. He started with the concept of consumer co-creation and went on to explain how modern day marketing mix is evolving with changing times as compared to ancient times by quoting examples of MNCs such as Amazon, Zomato, Swiggy, Coca-Cola and so on and their marketing strategies which have evolved based on the consumer needs.

Mr. Dey exposed the students to the new marketing strategies such as:

  • Funnel approach
  • Flywheel
  • Hybrid marketing –mix
  • Account Based Marketing (ABM)
  • Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR)

Lastly he highlighted the importance of consumer data retrieved from cookies on the website and how the focus is shifting from data collected from the third party to the first party.

The session concluded with Q/A. The students found the industry interact program very informative and beneficial as they got an insight of the industry expectation and skills required in the corporate world in the area of marketing

The session ended at 11:30 pm, with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. Dekasha Oradkar, a student of M.Com Part II.
