Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect at Shree Damodar College Campus. The ceremony started at 8.30 a.m. in the College premises with a large crowd of staff, NSS volunteers and students from three VVM institutions – Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, G R Kare College of Law and RMS Higher Secondary School.
Principal, Dr. Prita D. Mallya was the Chief Guest of the Programme. She unfurled the national flag at 8.30 a.m. sharp. All the NCC cadets, students and teachers saluted the flag and sang the National Anthem. Associate NCC Officer Lt.Subrahmanya Bhat administered the anti-dowry oath to the Cadets and students. This was followed by a brief Cultural Programme, with students reciting patriotic poems and singing patriotic songs. Ms. Mamta Kumari Assistant Professor, Dept. of Mathematics, shared her views on the significance of the day. Damodar college students also enacted a street play.
