The Inaugural function of the student bodies – Students’ Council, Cultural Council, and Sports Council was held on 29th August at 10:30 a.m. in Hall No. 2, 5th Floor, Central Block of the college. The Chief Guest for the program was Prof. Manasvi Kamat, Principal of MES College of Arts & Commerce, Zuarinagar, Vasco, Goa.
The program began with an invocation song by a student, followed by the lighting of the traditional lamp by the dignitaries present. The Officiating Principal, Prof. Sanjay P. Sawant Dessai, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the responsibilities that the nominated representatives of the student bodies must shoulder.
Following this, the Convenors of the three Councils, Dr. Maithili Naik (Students’ Council), Dr. Sheetal Arondekar (Cultural Council) and Mr. Devraj Hirekurbar (Sports Council), introduced their respective council members and shared the talents and skills of the student members with the audience. The pinning of badges on all the members of the student bodies was then conducted by the Chief Guest.
The General Secretaries of each council, Mr. Neeraj Aroskar (General Secretary, Students’ Council), Mr. Tanish Patil (Cultural Secretary, Cultural Council) and Mr. Ved Prabhudessai (Sports Secretary), subsequently presented their plans of activities for the Academic Year 2024-25. This was followed by the oath-taking ceremony administered by the Officiating Principal, Prof. Sanjay P. Sawant Dessai, instilling a sense of responsibility and commitment in the elected student leaders.
Vice Principal (Administration) Dr. Shami Pai, formally introduced the Chief Guest, Prof. Manasvi Kamat, who was then given a green welcome by the Officiating Principal. Prof. Kamat delivered her keynote address, sharing her insights on various issues. She highlighted that collaboration and teamwork are key to achieving prosperity and success. She further stressed upon the importance of planning, urging individuals not to merely go with the flow of life but to plan strategically in order to reach great heights.
As a token of appreciation, the Officiating Principal presented the Chief Guest with a memento. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by the IQAC Coordinator, Ms. Lina Sadekar followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The event was compered by Ms. Lizette D’Costa, Assistant Professor in Economics, and Ms. Delisha Rebello, Assistant Professor in Management.
