Hiking expedition to Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary

The Department of Physical Education & Sports at VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, organized a hiking expedition to the Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary, specifically to the scenic Savri Waterfall, on 11th October 2024. Around 30 students (23 male, 07 female), along with two staff members, actively participated in this event, which combined physical activity with an immersive experience in nature.

The journey commenced with the college bus departing at 8:30 AM, arriving at the destination by 10:00 AM. Upon arrival, Mr. Dewaraj Hirekurbar, the College Director of Physical Education & Sports, addressed the group, highlighting the importance of physical fitness and the benefits of hiking as a holistic activity for both body and mind. Following this introduction, Physical Education Instructor Mr. Saurabh Raikar led the students on a 4-kilometer trek to the waterfall. His guidance ensured that the participants navigated the trail safely while enjoying the natural surroundings.

Throughout the day, various fun and recreational activities were organized to enhance the overall experience. The group completed their hike around 4:00 PM and departed from the sanctuary at 4:30 PM, arriving back at the college by 6:15 PM. The entire event was well-coordinated under the supervision of Mr. Dewaraj Hirekurbar and Mr. Saurabh Raikar, ensuring a safe and enjoyable outing for all participants.

Expected Outcome of the Activity

The hiking expedition organized by the Department of Physical Education & Sports at VVM’s Shree Damodar College promoted physical fitness, teamwork, and an appreciation for nature among students.
