Guest Lecture on Information Technology Act 2000

The Department of BBA(Financial Services) organized a guest lecture for the students of FY BBA(FS) Divs A and B, on 29th March 2019 from 11.00 am to 12.00 noon in Room no. 1 on 1st floor of the BBA building. The topic for the session was Information Technology Act 2000. The resource person for the session was Ms. Prasanna Timble, Founder and Managing Attorney at Legawise, Navelim. She has also published a book titled the “Land Laws of Goa”.

The interactive session commenced with the Introduction to the IT Act and the purpose of its adoption in India, followed by a detailed discussion on the main features of the Act. The speaker also emphasized the various types of Criminal Offences carried out by means of the Internet and highlighted Data Protection and Privacy Laws. She also touched upon topics such as E-Contracts, Intermediary Liability w.r.t. Electronic records and Electronic Commerce transactions over the Internet.

The session ended with the guest speaker answering queries posed by the students followed by Vote of Thanks. A total of 47 students (25 female and 22 male) attended the talk.
