Guest Lecture on GST & other Indirect Taxes

The Postgraduate Dept. of Commerce organized a Guest Lecture in the subject of GST & other Indirect Taxes on May 3, 2021 from 12.00 noon -2.00 pm via Google Meet. The Resource Person for the session was CA Siddhi S. Bagkar (CA, CS Professional, M.Com). 24 M.Com Part II students attended the session.

The main objective of the Guest Lecture was to familiarize students with the practical aspects of registration and filing of returns under GST law. The session began with the introduction of the resource person by Ms. Sredha S, a student of M.Com-II. The teacher in-charge Ms. Seema Dharani, Asst. Professor in Commerce, stressed on the importance of conducting guest lectures for the students.

The Resource Person Ms. Bagkar began the session by briefing students about the simplified registration process, which students can take up as a freelancing career opportunity.

The speaker gave a conceptual and practical overview of the following topics:

• Registration under the GST Act – GSTIN, Person(s) who are required to register under GST Act, Obligations after being registered, Documents required for GST registration process, Practical process of registration

• Filing of Returns under the GST Act – GSTR-1, GSTR2A, GSTR3B, Virtual display of filing of returns, Credit and Debit Notes

Ms. Bagkar addressed the queries of the students. The session ended with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. Crystal Barreto, student of M.Com-II.
