Guest Lecture on “Forensic Accounting: Consumer Frauds and Safety”

The BBA(Financial Services) Department organized a Guest Lecture titled “Forensic Accounting: Consumer Frauds and Safety” in Fundamentals of Accounting course for FYBBA(FS) students on 10th December 2020 from 11:00 a.m. till 12:30 p.m via Google Meet. 54 students participated in the same. The Resource Person was CA Udesh Verenkar, Proprietor, Udesh V & Associates, Margao, Goa.

The Resource Person started the session by explaining the concept of forensic audit, elaborating upon how forensic audit is used for fraud detection. He opined that forensic audit is a vital instrument that helps in detection or investigation of various frauds and also provides evidences supporting the fraud. He also put forth the purposes and objectives for conducting forensic audit in a company.

Mr. Udesh explained consumer frauds by pointing out that there are two types of frauds that can be experienced by the consumer, viz. online frauds and offline frauds. He gave real life examples to explain the concepts of phishing, bait and switch fraud.

Ms. Sanchia Da Costa student of FYBBA(FS) B proposed the Vote of Thanks. The session ended at 12.30 pm after a Q&A round.
