The Department of Information Technology organized a Guest Lecture in the subject of Computer Applications for FYB.Com students on the topic “Cyber Security – A Practical Overview” from 12 noon to 1.20 p.m on 24th June 2021 via Google Meet platform. The Resource Person for the session was Mr. Suhas Mallya, Executive Director at Emco Goa Private Limited, and ex-student of the College. 28 students of FYB.Com Div. A and B (Generic Elective) attended the session.
The main objective of organizing this guest lecture was to create awareness on practical aspects of Cyber security. The Guest Speaker, Mr. Suhas Mallya, who has a rich experience in the IT Industry, shared various aspects and forms of Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes. He touched upon concepts and solutions using everyday scenarios and tools. The Resource Person covered the following topics
- Overview of Cyber Security
- Vulnerabilities, threats and attacks
- Modes/Platforms/Media of attacks
- Forms and types of Attacks
- Forms and types of Cyber crimes
- Detection, safeguards, remedies and legal/regulatory recourse
The session was very interesting and informative and was appreciated by the students. Ms. Sharmila Kunde, Associate Professor, Dept. of IT, was the teacher in charge for the same.
