Grievance Redressal Cell

The College has a Grievance Redressal Cell (GRC), set up to attend to complaints from students regarding all academic matters (teaching, learning and evaluation), matters relating to co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, administrative matters, etc. Any student with a grievance may approach the Cell in person, or send an email to any member of the Grievance Redressal Cell.

The Cell functions on the basis of the principle ‘the right to be heard and the right to be treated without bias’. The aim of the Grievance Redressal Cell is to provide an environment for the


Objectives of the Cell

The GRC has been created to resolve issues related to students’ problems, develop a responsive and accountable attitude among all stakeholders in order to maintain a harmonious educational atmosphere in institution. The main objectives of the Cell are:

  • To develop an institutional framework to resolve grievances of students and other stakeholders.
  • To provide students access to immediate, hassle-free recourse to have their grievances redressed.
  • To encourage students to express their grievances/problems freely and frankly, without any fear of being victimized.

Functions and Activities

  • The Cell will attend to all complaints/grievances received from students, whether in person or by email, promptly
  • To the extent possible, the grievance will, be settled within 7 working days of receipt of the grievance and the student informed accordingly
  • To the extent possible, the name of the complainant will not be disclosed to any person other than the members of the Cell and the Principal
  • The following matters are outside the scope of the Cell:
  • Decisions with regard to award of scholarships /fee concessions/awards
  • Decisions made by College under the Code of Conduct.
  • Decisions of the College in respect of admissions to any programme of study
  • Decisions of the Grievance Committee (Examination-Related) constituted as per the relevant Ordinances of Goa University
  • Where the GRC finds merit in the grievance, and is of the opinion that disciplinary action should be taken against the student/staff member against whom the complaint is made, the recommendation for action will be conveyed in writing to the Principal for a final decision in the matter
  • Where the Cell is unable to arrive at any solution to the complaint, the matter will be referred to the Principal for a final decision in the matter
  • If the student is not satisfied with the decision of the GRC, he/she may then, within 7 working days of the receipt of the decision of the GRC, approach the Public Grievance Officer for redressal.

Composition of the Cell

The Grievance Redressal Cell will comprise the following members

  • at least one faculty member from each programme of study offered by the College
  • at least one of these faculty members will be of the cadre of Associate Professor/Professor, and will be designated as Convenor of the Cell.
  • Head Clerk

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL CELL (CONVENOR – PUBLIC GRIEVANCE OFFICER)

  • Dealing with grievances received in writing from students about any of the following:
  • Academic Matters: Related to conduct of classes, perceived unfair treatment by teachers, etc.
  • Financial Matters: Related to dues and payments for various items from Library, etc.
  • Administration matters: Related to timely issue of Identity cards, statement of marks, certificates, or other matters
  • Other Matters: Related to infrastructure, canteen, security on campus, etc.
  • Where necessary, making recommendations to the Principal, regarding action to be taken
  • Submission of annual reports to the Principal
