The Cultural Council organized “Gandhiji – The Mahatma” a virtual Inter-Collegiate Essay-cum-Presentation Competition as a tribute to the Father of the Nation on Martyrs’ Day. The theme of the competition is always a quote by Mahatma Gandhi. This year – seventh in the series – the quote selected was “A man is but the product of his thoughts; what he thinks, he becomes”.
The competition was held through online mode on the Google Meet platform from 10.30 am to 1.00 pm. Participants were required to register themselves via a Google form on or before 13th February 2021 and had to upload the hand-written essay on the given theme at the time of registration. Live presentations were organized on the day of the event. (16th February 2021).
A total of 8 teams participated in the event viz. V M Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education, Fr.Agnel College of Arts & Commerce, Pilar, P.E.S’s R. S. N College of Arts & Science Farmagudi, Ponda, M.E.S College of Arts & Commerce, Zuarinagar, Vidya PrabodhiniCollege Porvorim, Cuncolim Educational Society’s College, Cuncolim, Government College of Commerce and Economics, Borda and St Xavier’s College, Mapusa.
The first place was secured by Janine Rangel & Shalom Ferrao, St Xavier’s College, Mapusa.
The second place was secured by Meena Choudhary & Paul Pimento, Government College of Commerce & Economics, Borda.
The third place was secured by Shanelly Salome Mergulhao & Lowell Fernandes, M.E.S College of Commerce & Economics, Zuarinagar.
Dr. Maithili Naik (Asst. Professor in Commerce) & Mrs. Sheryl Da Silva (Asst. Professor in Commerce) judged the competition.
The comperes for the event were Ms. Maria Elaine Sequeira & Ms. Mruga Naik, students of M.Com Part II, Post-Graduate Dept. of Commerce.
