The College IQAC organized a field trip to Museum of Goa (MOG) located at Pilerne Industrial Estate, Pilerne Bardez, Goa for teachers of all programmes, on Thursday, 11th October, 2018.
Museum of Goa is one of India’s largest contemporary art spaces. It is an initiative by artist, Dr Subhodh Kerkar. Dr Subodh Kerkar gave up his medical profession to pursue his passion for visual art. During the past 25 years he has experimented with different media creating a niche for himself as an installation artist.
Museum of Goa (MOG) is a unique pedagogical experiment of narrating History through contemporary art. The entry fee is Rs 300/- for international visitors and Rs 100/- for Indian visitors. The timing of the museum is 10 am to 6pm every day.
MOG offers 1500 sq mts of space to display art. The building is three-storeyed, standing between industrial units on one side and the forest on the other. It has an Art Store, a café, an auditorium and studios for artists. MOG also offers Art classes, Pottery, Ceramic Workshops, Book Launches, Film Screenings, Music concerts and corporate art programmes.
Dr Subodh Kerkar’s documentary was shown to the teachers during the field visit. The teachers were taken around the Museum by the employees of MOG. The teachers interacted with Dr Subodh Kerkar and clarified their doubts.
The field visit was an enjoyment as well as a learning experience for the teachers. It helped the teachers to de-stress from the routine college chores, build comradeship among colleagues and improve inter-personal relations.
