Exploring Corporate Secretaryship as a career choice

The Department of Commerce and Management, in collaboration with the Career Cell and TIP cell organised a counselling session on the topic ‘Exploring Corporate Secretaryship as a career choice’ on 21 st March 2024 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in class 212 to provide insights into the Corporate Secretaryship (CS) course and its career prospects. The session aimed to guide students considering CS as a career option. The Resource Person was Mr. Dharmaraj J. Bhosle, a distinguished professional and Ex-Chairman of the Goa Chapter of WIRC-ICSI.

Mr. Bhosle commenced the session by providing a detailed overview of the CS course structure, its duration, examination and eligibility criteria, syllabus and registration process along with the choice of specialization available for CS aspirants. He also discussed the importance of CS professionals in corporate governance and regulatory compliance. Mr. Bhosle elaborated on the diverse responsibilities of CS professionals, including advising the board of directors, maintaining statutory records, and ensuring legal conformity.

Mr. Bhosle provided a comprehensive overview of the salary packages available to professionals in the field of Company Secretaries (CS), spanning various industries such as corporate firms, consulting firms, and financial institutions. Leveraging his extensive industry experience, Mr. Bhosle illuminated the roles and responsibilities integral to the position of a Company Secretary, motivating attendees to consider this career path. Additionally, he delved into the concept of secretarial audit, elucidating its contemporary significance. The session concluded at 12.15 pm with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Keneisha Pereira, student of FY B.Com. 51 students attended the session. The compere for the program was Ms. Muskan Bi Nadaf, student of FY B.Com. Ms. Kalpana Parab, Mr. Sarth Shanbhag and Ms. Prashanti Bhamaikar were the teachers in charge for the session whereas Ms. Pooja Shanbhag, Convenor of Career cell, coordinated the event.
