Participation at Entrepreneur’s day

Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry in association with Government of Goa – Dept. of Industries, Goa State Industries Association, Goa Technology Association celebrated Entrepreneur’s day on 21st August at Institute Menezes Braganza, Panjim .The aim of the program was to highlight “Goa – as the next Entrepreneurial Destination” and create awareness on opportunities available for economic development of the state.

Officials from around 20 banks were present; banks advertised their various financial products and schemes available for entrepreneurship and the schemes were explained by the bank officials at the stalls. The inauguration ceremony started around 02.15 p.m. In his speech, the Chief Guest, Mr. S.T. Kannan, General Manager RBI stressed on the importance of entrepreneurship and the various challenges; he also said that we need to head together to mentor the entrepreneurs and this should be the ultimate aim of such programs. He also mentioned that Waste to Wealth management is the new area for entrepreneurs. Various dignitaries such as Mr. Manguirish Pai Raikar (former President of GCCI), Mr. Surest Astana (General Manager of SBI Goa), Mrs. Padhmashri Pai (NABARD) and other officials from MSME, Corporation Bank, were present for the function. The banks offered the sanction letter and cheques to some selected beneficiaries who were granted loans under various schemes for entrepreneurial development. Many women entrepreneurs benefited from such schemes.

After the inauguration the 2nd session Role of Academia in Promoting Entrepreneurship for industry began. The key speakers were Mr. Pravin Khullar President of GPMA and Senior Director Center group Sanofi. He said that India has the best nature as well as the best talent. Dr. Ajit Parelukar Director, GIM said that Goa has a large number of incubation centers, as a result of which Goa is a good place for start-ups.

The program ended at around 6.30. Ms. Namita Neurekar (B.C.A) Ms. Prachi Kolamker (B.Com) and Ms. Grishmi Thakur (BBA (FS)) attended the programme.
