Empowering Panchayats in Goa: A comprehensive community service programme.

The Department of Commerce & Management, Students’ Council and Sports Council of the College organised a community service programme on Empowering Panchayats in Goa from 6th to 10th October 2023. This program aimed at empowering Panchayats and promoting overall well-being and awareness among residents.  We also aimed to uplift the community and foster a spirit of cooperation and progress through interactive sessions and practical initiatives.

The Panchayats covered under this program were Seraulim on 6th Oct, Davorlim Dicarpale and Aquem Baixo on 7th Oct and Rumdamol Davorlim on 10th Oct. In every Panchayat the activity commenced with a street play headed by Mr. Omkar Naik student of SY B.Com on raising awareness about financial frauds to protect residents from scams and frauds and promote responsible financial practices. Following this, Ms. Shreeyash Sinai Dalal, a student of TY B.Com conducted a session on usage of Digital payment platforms to encourage cashless transactions and promote digital financial inclusion. To promote physical fitness and sports participation and create a more active and healthier community, Mr. Siddhivinayak Hadapad, General Secretary of Sports Council conducted a session on Health and fitness.

This activity was conducted by 20 B.Com Students to convey the students’ dedication to creating a brighter future and signifying their commitment to fostering positive change in the community. This program was conducted in the presence and under the guidance of Dr. Edwin Barreto, Vice Principal, and Head, Dept. of Commerce & Management. The Teachers incharge of the activity were Dr. Maithili Naik, Convenor of Students’ Council, Dr. Ajinkya Kudtarkar, Convenor of Sports Council and Ms. Swati Bhat, Asst. Prof in Commerce.

The student incharge for the program were Ms. Brionna Noronha and Ms. Nidhi Kunde.
