Educational Field Trip for SY BBA(FS) Students

The Department of Management Studies organized an educational field trip for the students of SY BBA(FS) on 9th March 2024, where the students visited Tanshikar Spice Farm, Netravali, Sanguem as part of the Entrepreneurship Development Course. The field trip aimed at providing students with an exposure to entrepreneurship.

The students were guided through the different plantations and were briefed about each spice produced at the farm. The students were enlightened about the cultivation of vanilla, harvesting of beans and complete techniques for curing of vanilla beans, their grading and storage. The process of cultivating white and black pepper, turmeric, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, betel, coffee beans, bay leaf, cinnamon, chillies, cocoa beans are grown, harvested and processed along with their historical origin was also explained. The students were also shown the process of bee-keeping and honey extraction as well as the different techniques of organic farming carried out in the farm.

The students had a pleasant learning experience. Later, the students went around exploring the eco-friendly cottages and mud houses built as part of sustainable tourism. 44 students visited the farm. The students were accompanied by subject teachers Asst. Prof. Alba De Sa and Asst. Prof. Namrata Ugvekar.
