The NSS unit in collaboration with NYK (Nehru Yuva Kendra) and NSS unit of Goa University organized District level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament on 12th March 2024. Shri Digambar Kamat, MLA of Margao Constituency, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, adding significance to the event with his presence. Shri Kalidas Ghatwal, Deputy Director of Nehru Yuva Kendra addressed the gathering. Three sessions were conducted during the programme.
Mrs. Deepali Naik, Director of Women and Child Development presented her views on women empowerment (Nari Shakti), Ms. Poorva Verlekar, the Project Manager of GoVan project team at the Goa State Biodiversity Board, South Goa, presented her views on Vocal for Local, Ms. Celina Rodrigues, Section Officer of the Revenue Department at Secretariat, spoke on ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ and lastly VVM’s Govind Ramnath Kare College of law presented mock parliament as part of the programme.
266 students participated, including students from various colleges such as Rosary College of Commerce and Arts (Navelim), Carmel College for Women (Nuvem), VVM’s Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law (Comba), Government College of Commerce and Economics (Borda), and Don Bosco Engineering College (Fatorda). Overall, the event seems to have covered important topics such as women empowerment, local initiatives, and youth participation in building a better society. It provided a platform for students to engage in meaningful discussions and activities aimed at societal development and empowerment.
