Goa Livelihoods Forum (GLF) and the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Govt. of Goa, collaborated on the DigiSaksham program to train the students across the Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) on basic digital skills. DigiSaksham is a digital skills training initiative to empower job seekers in an increasingly tech-driven economy, in line with the government’s ongoing engagement to up-skill youth from rural and semi-urban areas. This initiative allowed job seekers to register for various courses offered free of cost.
Under NEP 2020, DHE decided to ask the interested colleges to register. A total of 300 Second year students of VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics registered for the same. The team from DHE coordinated with the DigiSaksham team and the Faculty Coordinator of the College, Ms. Swati Bhat for the implementation of the same.
The training was in batches. Each batch consisted of 250 students. DHE clubbed the institutes together who did not have the individual count of 250 students each. The employability skills are also essential, especially given the technology-dependent work places, and therefore need to be acquired by students from all disciplines. Hence, the College offered the Microsoft Excel course for the students of all programmes and 79 students successfully completed the course. The course was conducted from 4th to 10th January 2023.
The course was coordinated by Ms. Swati Bhat, SY Certificate course incharge. The teacher incharges were Ms. Delisha Rebello, Mr. Andre Pacheco and Ms. Girija Gaonkar.
